Surfpin is a company that facilitates payments for virtual goods via mobile and SMS solutions. Established since 2002, it has become a market leader within it’s field pioneering many new micropayment technological developments. The company had gone through a period of significant expansion and required DS solutions for it’s global headquarters as well as a solution for exhibition signage. As the company was primarily a software and service organisation the brief was to develop a short promotional piece that highlighted the capabilities of Surfpin which could then be leveraged into multiple communication channels. The Digital Producers were approached to design an HD DS solution for them based on their previous experience of us when we were still an in-house corporate team.
We decided that the most effective way to visually highlight the capabilities of Surfpin was to take one of their most innovative product solutions, the simplicity of mobile payments, and make this the focal point of the content. We captured the output of the application running from a smartphone and then set about creating a simple yet effective storyboard that made the process easy to understand. No voice over was required as we felt strong messaging was much more of an effective visual DS solution but it did need to tell a story to keep the viewer engaged and informed.
The application capture was placed onto a 3D model of a smartphone to allow us more control of the look and feel of the piece plus dynamically move it around the screen real estate. After effects was used to composite the final piece using a selection of cool plugins and effects to lift the information. The final element of the DS solution was to add in a quirky / funky audio underscore which would attract people in to watch the content when used within an exhibition or trade show environment.
The finished product was delivered to the client as a DS HD media pack to use on screen signage solutions that had already been invested in.
