The Shooting Star Children’s Hospice provides care, support and advice for children and young people with life-limiting conditions and their families. These care services are offered free of charge to families, 365 days a year across the western half of London and north Surrey.
The Digital Producers forged a relationship with this very worthy charity helping them develop a rich media experience for their website and create a DS screen solution for their head office. At very short notice TDP were informed that the Broadway singing sensation, Michael Ball, was to make a surprise visit to the hospice to entertain the children and also reveal details of a special concert. The event was extremely special to him as it would be to an intimate audience of 600 at a local children’s school where all the proceeds would go to Shooting Star. They required informative and entertaining video content that could be used in multiple digital communication channels. It was to be primarily used at the head office on an installed DS screen along with a full scale A/V play out solution at the live event which mean’t that they required a full HD experience.
We supplied an experienced camera crew due to the nature of the video shoot to collect some candid video of Michael interacting with the children at the hospice. We then undertook a one-on-one interview with the star to create the PR news piece which added with the textural shots would add a visual depth to the film.
Limited to the time we had with the charity and the star mean’t that we had to be effective on the shoot and respectful of the patients needs in the hospice. In Post Production we re-packaged different flavours of the content to be used on different mediums – a shorter version for the web portal, a longer more in depth piece for the DS screen in the reception area and a full HD version for the live event experience. All three versions were in essence the same but creating slightly different versions to work for the play out medium is a fantastic way to add longevity to a standard video news piece.
Adam Petrie, Head of PR and Communications commented,”Working with The Digital Producers has been an absolute pleasure. They were entirely professional and sensitive to our environment, as well as consistently creative and felxible to our needs and requests“. The ability to repackage excellent DS content to different communication mediums is something that we will always strive to do. Digital Signage is an important part of the visual communication chain and integrating it with an online experience too is an extremely effective proposition.
